Enduring Power of Attorney
Enduring Powers of Attorney (EPOA) are extremely important documents. No-one has a crystal ball into the future. An accident or infirmity can prevent you personally managing your own affairs. In such circumstances most people think that their nearest and dearest would automatically be able to step in and take over. Worse, the effect of modern privacy legislation may even prevent your nearest and dearest obtaining information about your affairs.
An EPOA allows you, while you are still hale and hearty, to choose a person or persons whom you trust to manage your affairs if and when you become incapacitated. You can define when that power is to start, whether it is to cover financial matters only or personal matters only or both, and whether your trusted person is to act alone or jointly with others. The power can be tailored to fit your needs and your attorney’s capacity.
